I'm sorry everyone but I study Renaissance Art History and have spent a long time with da Vinci's art in particular. The landscape in the Mona Lisa work is probably derived from a precise location. It closely resembles the valley of the Chiana river near Arezzo and the bridge is probably the Ponte a Buriano which is still there today.

You do require a literal answer. The "place" at (the; implied) back of (the; implied) Mona Lisa, is the Louvre. The scene painted as representing what was behind the woman in the picture is a figment of the artists imagination. Now...... as for the brige(?) ... your guess is as good as anyone's.

Mona Lisa's background is said to be an assembled scene with imagery of both Tuscany and the Italian Alps.

According to Wikipedia it's an imaginary landscape.

"The painting was one of the first portraits to depict the sitter before an imaginary landscape. One interesting feature of the landscape is that it is uneven. The landscape to the left of the figure is noticeably lower than that to the right of her. This has led some critics to suggest that it was added later."
