The sky is blue partly because air scatters short-wavelength light in preference to longer wavelengths. Where the sunlight is nearly tangent to the Earth's surface, the light's path through the atmosphere is so long that much of the blue and even yellow light is scattered out, leaving the sun rays and the clouds it illuminates red, at sunrise and sunset.

I think the sky is blue because when sunlight hits the atmosphere, the particles in the atmosphere (such as dust) absorbs all other colors in the visible light spectrum (red, yellow, etc...) but not the color blue. Therefore, only the color blue will been as the sky color.
It is the same concept for having intense orange/reddish color during sunrise and sun set having to do with particles in the sky/atmosphere and absorbing certain colors in the visible light spectrum and allowing other colors to "pass through" and be seen.

A clear cloudless day-time sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun more than they scatter red light. When we look towards the sun at sunset, we see red and orange colours because the blue light has been scattered out and away from the line of sight.

Sky is blue because of the reflection of light coming from the particles in the atmosphere. The light rays of blue colour are reflected more than any other coloured light, hence it appears to be blue. In rainbow one can see all colours because they are reflected seperately as in prism. In space its all black...

If people ask me silly things when I'm in a bad mood I answer them with "I don't know, why is the sky blue?"
They never stick around to tell me the answer.
So sorry, I can't help you.
