It's about a person's decisions along their path in life and how that effects them. Billie's basically saying that you can't fight what you have to face in your life and that even if it doesn't seem great now it'll be worth it in the end, and to always savor the good moments because you don't know how long they'll last or how far between they may be.

its a song about break ups. the funny thing is and i forget which country it was either US or UK , the year it was released it was the most played song at weddings. Can you imagine?

it is talking about not dwelling in the past. We all do things and come out with only memories. We all make mistakes, but they should not be dwelledupon. We are all heading toward the same destination; death. So we all know our end, but life is about the journey. Hope you had the time of your life

i know i saw it on one of green days websites, but i can remember what the meaning of the song was, or what website it was. but i think billie joe was writing about when his life was starting to take its tole (with the music carrier)and he stopped hanging out with his friends down in the basment smoking MJ. i think he was kinda just remembering and saying his good bye's.................I THNK!!!!!
