Do you know if in the beginning of Good Riddance if that is a metronome? I don't think I'm crazy, listen to the song, about 3-4 seconds in you (I) can kind of hear it.. Do you hear it? Is it a metronome? Do you know what a metronome is??

It's probably the click track coming through his headphones. When you record an acoustic guitar (or another instrument) on a song that has no drums, you listen to a click track while you play to keep the tempo steady. The microphone will sometimes pick this up very slightly. Another example is the song "Beautiful" by Christina Aguilera. You can hear the loop she is singing to in the background on intro and the first verse of the song (very faintly.)

A metronome is basically a device that keeps time with steady taps or clicks. You adjust it depending on BPM's (Beats per minute)

A metronome is a tool used to count beats...commonly used for piano in order to hit the keys in the right tempo. I wouldn't be surprised if it is there...I know that there is an F-bomb there as well. I personally haven't paid attn in order to hear but it is not unheard of..
