It's very common, and I don't think it's wrong, unless you act on it. It might be awkward if you are working with him, but I don't think that you should change your plans just because you're attracted to him, unless you find a better position. There will likely be more bosses and unavailable coworkers in the future that you will find attractive, so if you want to live your life, you might just have to grin and bear it.

Hey, you're in the same situation as me, just that...
1) the teacher is a girl
2) she's attracted to me, but I'm starting to like her now....sh1t...
We do research together, and she usually gets up close, asks me what I'm doing, sits beside me even though I get up and move to another place, takes me out for lunch (damn, i feel bad about not footing the bill), tells me stuff that normal teachers won't, accuses me of watching porn everytime I'm using the computer without facing her... man, I tell you I was half sick of the attention when she tilted my chair (cos I was sitting on 2 legs) and pushed her body forward, man, my bird was smashed right into the edge of the low table and when i got up i smashed right into her *****. Bloody hell, I was so freakin embarrassed, i reduced my visits to the laboratory.
Anyway, I have devised a method to help me cope with it.
1) Fill my mind with something else when I feel attracted
2) keep away from him/her as much as possible (get rid of source of temptation)
Hey, but I would say that you've done the first step, of admitting that it is wrong and you don't want to have an affair with him. Try the following steps if it helps:
1) Disengage in talks that are emotionally bonding. Instead, focus on conversations that are productive
2) Tell yourself that if you start behaving weird, you'll be embarrassed by your friends, and they'll gossip
3) Blot out the first wrong thought that comes to your mind, because if you let it pass, theres a high chance that you'll start fantasizing.

I think it happens to everyone at least once and at varying ages from junior high to college.
Check your teacher out, but then just ignore the attraction. That's what I did. Unless you really have strong feelings and you feel there is a possibility that they could be returned, then hold off until after you are through working with him and then consider acting on them if you feel strongly enough.

If it is going to affect how you work then I wouldn't recommend working with him. It will only confuse you in the long run. Also it's important to take in consideration whether or not he has a family. Being flirtatious with your teacher can lead to only one thing-"Trouble". Find someone you have similar interests with, and move on. God has a plan, you just need to be patient and find the right person.
