The California poppy is not an opium poppy. California Poppies are not Papaver, and therefore do not contain any of the familiar alkaloids that are present in strains such as the Somniferum.

According to American folk medicine herbals-they were used by the native americans-the sap for toothache-tea for colic in babies-used for mild pain as a tea or soaked in hot water then used as a compress.

Used by pioneers to treat insomnia, nervous disorders, pain, muscle spasm. Also a diuretic because of its affect on cramping pain, water retention and anxiety. It was used by women for menstrual distress.

It has been suggested that it can be smoked as a legal sort of high, but it is unlikely that you will get any noticable effect.

I PROTEST!!!! Not only is this completely a-moral, but why do I have to be the bread winner? I want the "not-earthly" needs position. Let Jeff be the "housewife." My hours suck, and I don't get nearly enough attention as it is. I was here first. I get dibbs on the good stuff. Jeff will just have to wait until hubby#3 comes along before he gets out of the kitchen. Oh, and as for the real question, since the first set of "logics" isn't logical at all, or fair, or moral, then it doesn't change just before you switch the gender roles. People aren't tools to be used to fulfill a selfish need. That's not how a relationship works. It's supposed to be a partnership, where both people complement and complete each other. Monogamy is one of the only things religion actually got right. By the way, does this mean I can have a spare wife on the side, too, sweety? I've kind of had my eyes on Gaia. Have you seen her avatar? Those wings just drive me wild! ;) yes, dear :(

No.Opium poppies are not the same thing as ornamental varieties of garden poppies. Opium poppies are white and highly illegal.
