I am logged on as an administrator, still I am not able to uncheck the "Read-only" attribute of some folders, neither in normal mode nor in safe mode. I unchecked the "Read-only" attribute & clicked OK. Again when I saw the "Properties" of that folder the "Read-only" attribute was checked again, infact it was not checked rather there was a square dot in the "Read-only" check box. Please tell me how can I solve this problem. I will be very greatful to you.
Thanks in advance

FIrst you need to take ownership of the folder. If you right click and click on properties you should see a security tab. Click that tab, then click the advanced button near the bottom of the small properties window. Check your permissions and where they are inherited from. Click on the owner tab to check ownership. Click on effective permissions to change ownership.

If you don't see a security tab, go to your control panel, then folder options, then view, and uncheck Use simple file sharing.

That will allow the security tab to show.

Good Luck

You might want to try going to DOS (run, "cmd") then running the "attrib" command (no quotes). Type "help attrib" for more information on changing the properties of files and directories. This should give you more flexibility, although be careful with changing files! Good luck.
