I have had more trouble than sucess with employment sites such as monster.com or careerbuilder.com.

These sites just seem to get me a lot of unwanted phone calls and emails. Primarily these contacts are made by recruiters who I would rather not deal with. I also get a lot of spam from other smaller career websites in the field of interest.

The only thing that I have found helpful is searching for positions on http://www.craigslist.org/ (be sure to choose your city) and utilizing the search capabilities of my local newspaper's classified ads.

Good Luck!

There are a lot of jobs listed on employment websites, but there are also a lot of people, like yourself, looking for those jobs. Many of the listings are outdated because they pay to list them for a certain amount of time or are listed to satisfy an affirmative action requirement. The best bet is to call some of the employers listed on the websites directly to see if that position is still available, get the contact name for the department head who is hiring for the position, contact them, and give them a 30-second commercial about your skills and how you could help their company.

The majority of the employment sites are tailored to the needs of the employer because they charge employers what I consider an exorbitant amount of money to use their sites. You are probably frustrated by the fact that the sites aren't necessarily set up to service the job seeker.
