I hope not. I don't want another "Hand of God" incident.

Messi is going to be better than Maradona. He doesn't nead to cheat to become a legend (a fact that the English will never let us forget), and he might have the brains to stay off drugs, unlike Maradona.
Messi is the first, last, and only Messi. He doesn't *need* to be the next anything, regardless of how good Maradona was.
That said, vamos Messi & vamos Argentina! :D

He's certainly skillful but needs a bit more physical strength. I wish the football media wouldn't put the pressure on him. There's only one Pele, only one Maradona. If Messi is that good, surely his name will stand out.
On the strength issue, this is only because a player that skillful will often be targeted. Saw him get towelled by Chelsea's Asier Del Horno in a UCL match for Barca, poor kid looked like he was in serious pain. Del Horno rightfully got a red card, but Messi must be able to get back onto his feet after these incidents.

Why should we think twice, when Maradona himself acknowledges that only Lionel Messi will fill in his place in Argentinan Football Team.

Messi and Maradona are both great players however, neither of them were or will ever be as talented as Ronhaldiho. Great answer Mary.

If he keeps on playing better and better we might be looking @ the next great player. He started of pretty good entering as a sub and scoring a goal. He has already won the Champions League with one of the best clubs Barcelona. I think he could be.

It is extremely difficult to comment on him as he is still new to interntional football arena. He seems to possess umpteen no of skills that makes is play attractive.I would love to see another legend in him similar to that of Maradona and Pele.
