Chemistry is the study of the elements from the periodic table that make up everything in the universe, like H2O (2 Hydrogens and one oxygen) is water, I forget what salt is, though. K ? Na ? Iron is Fe, N is nitrogen, and on and on it goes for over 200 elements. It helps when Jr. Highers are introduced to chemistry more just getting acquainted with all the elements, their value numbers and abbreviations.
My 2 kids just took it in high school and it is very hard, although one got an A, and the other a C, they both learned a lot and I was impressed with both. I never took Chemistry.
