A desktop and a laptop but only the desktop has an internet connection so its as good as having one computer only.( though if this were an ideal world we would have three EACH WITH A NET CONNECTION ; one for each user so that no one would fight over computer time).

Anyway, this teaches the kids the the important lesson of Sharing and tests my patience each time I have to sort out that fight.

I only have one I use, but our home currently has 4 that are working. We have several non-working or slow ones boxed up around here somewhere. My father likes to tinker with broken or slow computers and fix them or build completely new ones, so half the time it's not necessary to buy a new one, as I can send him an old one and usually he can take care of it when he has the time.

two i can claim, that function. a notebook and a desktop. i am a consultant and travel often. this would not be possible without the notebook.

the desktop is necessary as i require vast amounts of computing power for purely professional reasons.

this means i get to write them off as expenses.

my old desktop i donated to my children. they prefer their mother's. my old notebook won't boot, and the screen is hanging by one hinge. a friend gave me a notebook computer that makes a good doorstop, but it /does/ work (windows 3.1). there are several cases, drives, simms, power cords, etc. stacked in the garage. sometimes that junk actually does get recycled into a running comp.

Lets see, 1 desktop, 2 laptops, 2 old Mac PowerPCs, 1 Mac SE/30, 1 Mac Classic, and 1 more really old Mac, one of the first.

That brings me to: 8!

Plus a non-working old laptop.
