getting pass the software security, or pirating the software

Everyone has a different thought on this, Some say it is the same as hacking but i feel it is not. Cracking makes anything (when executed) behave in a way that the Cracker wants.

(most people said this)

The one thing people forget is the fact that anything done to make the program run in a different way can be seen as cracking.

For example I have a game and i just can't get past Level 99. I write code OR have some one do it for me that allows me to just move on to 100. This is also cracking and is NOT a bad thing. People say that all cracking is bad but only if the person is bad to start with.

Software cracking can be defined as modifying a program with the intention of making it behave in a particular manner and not the way it was intended to behave when it was created. Cracks are used by pirates to make their pirated games and movies work without validation passwords and other restrictions.

Here are the basic steps involved in cracking :

First the program that is to be cracked is run and its standard behaviour is observed carefully.
Next, the program is opened up in a disassembler. Disassembler is a cracking tool that is used by the crackers to reveal the coding of the program.
The typical strings of character that appeared in the program earlier is spotted in the code. Specific attention is paid to the occurences of key terms such as password, expired, date, etc.
Then, the protective routines of the program are learnt by following the code closely.
The program is then opened up in another cracking tool called HIEW (or Hacker's View) to make changes to the dissassembled code of the program.
Changes are made to the code such that the program's restrictive or protective features are disabled.
In doing so, the program now behaves very much like an original version. The program has been cracked.

Please note that this is only a very rough outline of the cracking process. We have omitted the technical details of the process.

Cracking of Software: As I see it,
It is just to be able to install and run programs/applications
on a Computer/PC where no matter the Registration
Key of the software maker(s) or any other security
mechanism implanted by them in order to begin to use
it such a software product.

So when you hear...Do you have a crack for this program X?
Find me one for this Program Y? Need a crack for application Z?
It means that the person is seeking for having the program
without paying it and registering in it.

Software cracking is the modification of software to remove encoded copy prevention. Distribution of cracked software ("warez"), or patches to circumvent software protection on software (commonly known as "cracks") is generally an illegal (or more recently, criminal) act of copyright infringement.
