Any ideas what's going on with my Epson Stylus C66? Every time I go to print anything I have to do a nozzle cleaning!

After about 3 nozzle cleanings the print check finally comes up right, and it will print satisfactorily for that project. However, if any time elapses between that project and the next time I print (even as little as a day), I end up going through the same thing again. It's really annoying, as I'm wasting loads of ink, and paper.

It only seems to be the colours that really need the cleaning each time, but of course, it cleans both black and colours, and there's no option to tell it not to clean one or the other.

I've also changed the ink cartridges since this problem started, and it hasn't made any difference.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

When the printer is done it is supposed to return to the "cradle" which seals the heads. Yours may not be returning properly, you may be turning it off before it returns or the foam used to seal the heads may be worn. First try turning the printer off using the printer's on and off switch rather than killing the power on a surge protector. If that does not help - open the printer when it is off to see if the cradle is seated properly. Lastly you may have to replace the foam the heads rest against.

If you have at anytime used a non epson cartridge that may be the problem. From time to time you will run across a compatible where the ink is too dense. This will result in clogging.

You can purchase what are called cleaning cartridges. Those will clear out any blockages that may have occurred.
