If a building was on fire and you could save either the one person you love the most in the world or 100 strangers, knowing that the one(s) you don't save will die in the fire, which would you choose? The one loved one or the 100 strangers?

It's a hypothetical question of course, it may not be realistic, but I want people to think about it and I'm curious to hear your answers.
You have to choose between saving the 1 OR the 100, you can't save a bit of each. Imagine it's a long building and your loved one is in the east of the building and the 100 strangers are in the west of the building and the building looks like it will fall down really soon and you'll only have time to rescue at one end of the building before it falls down. You have to choose EITHER the 1 or the 100.

That is a really mind-boggling question. Of course, that deep, dark desire to save my loved one sits in my heart at this very second. However, saving the 100 strangers would be more practical. I would like to think I would save the strangers, but on the other hand, if I was in a situation like that, without thinking I would probably just save my most loved one. I'm not a very brave person and I would only rescue somebody if I really wanted to, and having the chance to save a loved one would make me run into a building which was on fire. So, I guess my answer is this: I'd like to think I would save the 100 strangers, but I think I would only have the courage and willpower to save a loved one.

I would save the 100 strangers and will try to save the loved one .If i am unable to save the 1 then i will die with the 1 person .

I guess it would depend on the risk to myself, (I know sound selfish but here is my reasoning)as a retired fire fighter I would make that choice based on the theory that if I don't survive others may not, it is what we learn in training, "There are allot fewer who have the training and the know how to brave the flames than those who will stand and watch in horror." But if all thing were equal then I would choose the 100. I would be devastated and probably try and go back for the 1 even though I know its hopeless.

I'd kill one person to make it 99 people.Then throw the loved one into the mix to make 100.
If I could only choose one I'd be selfish and choose my loved one. Only because you said "one person you love the most in the world". In a situation where I had a split second to think it would be the one I love. I don't think my heart or brain would be able to do the math of 1 life or 100!

The one I love because I would know that they would always be there for me. Someone else might be grateful at the time but would soon forget I existed and if ever the situation were reversed in the future, they would probably pass me by. Sad to say but that is what the world has become. We strive to be like god who saves everyone but until heaven we will never be perfect

The one I loved, because I think that if any of those other 100 people were in the same situation, they would do the samething. I learned a long time ago that you can't go out of your way to help people, because it never comes back around.
