Check out the Wikipedia article on Freemasonry:

Also, I *highly* recommend the book The Illuminatus Trilogy by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson. It is largely about the Illuminati and the Freemasons. It's also laugh-out-loud hilarious.

Hi Kadambari,

There is lot of information and misinformation.

I know a person who is a Mason and he asked me to join. He claimed it is just a social institution like Lions or Rotary etc. I am yet to join to give first hand account.

You may read some intresting stuff here

there are no secret societies, and if ther were I would not be able to tell you, the Maison's are not secret, just do a web search on them, they have many sites telling you all of their secrets and trying to sell their ceremonial junk and memorabilia. and why is it that every little bunch of lunatics who decide to have a secret society just have to make sure that everybody knows about it and where and when the secret meeting are to be held
