A lot of the movies I would have named are already mentioned by others, but the one they all missed was Spike Lee's "Clockers." I actually did coke one night and watched this and it kinda woke me up.

Also, "Clean And Sober." A movie that is largely forgotten now but was simply amazing back when it came out.

Coach Carter-an inspiring story especially for the young minds.The story was really spiced-up with comedy,drama and action.It has a similarity to the cartoon series Slam Dunk (Japanese cartoon).Even if you didn't win in the championship at least you're in the position to play the championship.You're still a winner no matter what.It's always a dream to be in that situation that young people engage themselves into sports rather than making themselves a crap.It's a fruitful activity for students like the characters in the movie that it helped them a lot to grow as a person inspite of experiencing those "incredible things" in life.:)

Requiem for a Dream is the most depressing movie I have ever seen. It's very powerful.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas may work too.

boys in the hood
it is realistic and about drugs, sex, ect
and about hoods and stuff it is pretty gruesome in some parts but it is a good movie
