I tried to buy zoysia grass online but they said they do not ship to washington state, Oregon, and alaska. I was wondering why.

I believe it is because these plants are not native and may damage the ecosystems in parts of the states you referred to

The states you are referring to are too cold for Zoysia grass. If you get Amazoy zoysia it is the most low maintenance, soft, thick, dark green grass. It grows slow, will choke out all crab grass, weeds, etc. Little watering. You can mow every 3 weeks. It greens up after the weather is consistently over 65 degrees in the day. I live in Georgia, so my green months are very long vs my brown months. Amazoy Zoysia also grows straight up unlike other types. The blades are thinner than other Zoysia, so looks like regular grass. It is an absolute carpet to walk on. You may not like it farther north because you will have more brown months than green months. No bugs either. No ant hills, no yellow jackets or hornets, no beetles. I can not say enough good things about it.

Because it takes over and is a horrid weed.... As for not shipping to Alaska, I used to live there. It won't GROW at all.
