I would say no.
There are a lot of diseases that can cause obesity, but obesity itself is the end result of these diseases, not the disease itself.
There are, for example, several eating disorders that can and do cause obesity, psychological issues that do the same, and other effects of your upbringing that may be the cause.
Hope that this helps.

I was treated by a naturalist and I found out that it was not so much of a disease as it was a symptom of having a certain blood type and eating certain foods that my blood type cannot correctly metabolize. Apparently few people realize that there is a connection between obesity and blood type. If you eat the wrong foods that your blood type cannot handle, then this is what happens. I'm a type O blood type and from that it was found out that all dairy products slow down my metabolism. Anything made from wheat such as flour, bread, etc. will also mess me up. My blood type does not tolerate eggs, melons, beans, certain vegetables, certain fruits, pork, etc. But my system can efficently metabolize certain meats rich in protein and all green leaves. This is not for everyone because for a different blood type some of these foods are actually beneficial! I believe in this with all my heart and people are being scammed into worthless diets and dozens of stupid charts that look like greek salad. I used to weigh 255 lbs. and now weigh a steady 135 lbs and it almost seems impossible to put weight on now. But a person needs to find out what their blood type is and go to a naturalist for an evaluation and find out what foods their system cannot metabolize efficiently and stop eating them.

Obesity is a condition in which the natural energy reserve, stored in the fatty tissue of humans and mammals is increased to a point where it is thought to be a significant risk factor in certain health conditions, leading to increased mortality. Obesity is relatively rare among animals in the wild, but it is common in domestic animals (who may be overfed and underexercised), and increasingly in humans.
Excessive body weight has been shown to correlate with various important diseases, particularly cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus type 2, sleep apnea and osteoarthritis. It is also considered a risk factor for certain cancers. Interventions, such as diet and exercise as well as medication and weight-loss surgery (in severe cases) are frequently recommended to reduce the risk of developing disease.

First you have to know what the word 'disease' means. In the Yahoo Education/refrence/dictionary, the second term is as follows:
A condition or tendency, as of society, regarded as abnormal and harmful.
Now you would have to question if 'society' considered 'obesity' to be 'abnormal' and 'harmful'. Medicine does label obesity as 'harmful'. Given this bit of information, then one could consider 'obesity' to be a disease.

I have known a few clinically obese people and I have the greatest sympathy. However,
My guess would be that as it is a behavioral affliction, no it is not a disease. Ask someone with terminal cancer if they would rather be obese, instead.

Yes it is wikipedia defines a disease as any abnormal condition of the body or mind that causes discomfort, dysfunction, or distress to the person affected or those in contact with the person. Sometimes the term is used broadly to include injuries, disabilities, syndromes, symptoms, deviant behaviors, and atypical variations of structure and function, while in other contexts these may be considered distinguishable categories.
