A general management is superintendence, control and management of overall (one) function or (more than one) functions of a commercial or non-commercial entity, without any specialization for a particular function except that of general management.
In present times, the general management may be the additional function for a specialist looking after his own area of specialization as well.

General Management means to manage day to day operations of a company or corporation in general matters, but may exclude special things such as contract signing which bind the company with another entity.

i.e. the Gen. Mgr. of a hotel, is in charge of bar, houskeeping, food service,front desk,etc. managers.
