Well actually all of them vote, and all of them were appointed by a person. I suspect that Bush's or Reagan are going to appoint liberals with a pro-choice bent!

It's really amazing to me how many people don't see the freight train hiding being their little conservative posterboard...

Do you know why China can mandate abortions and force sterlizations? Because reproductive choice is not a guaranteed right.

As soon as Casey is overturned (for those who forget: Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Court in Planned Parenthood v. Casey in 1992) we've lost freedom from government intereference in reproductive choice.

It's not about abortion. It's about who gets to make the decisions. Right now, it's the individual. But if the Supreme Court decides that reproductive rights are not fundamental rights, and thus subject to state regulation, try to imagine what could happen.

New York could pass a law saying that anyone making less than $30K per year cannot have children, and must abort any pregnancy, because they obviously cannot support them financially. No constitutional challenge, because reproductive rights are no longer nationally protected. It's up to the states to decide.

South Dakota has already outlawed abortion, even in the case of rape or incest or permanent harm to the mother. Then, they decide that they have too little population, and require every female under the age of 28 who is not celibate to have at least one child. No constitutional challenge, because reproductive rights are no longer nationally protected.

Or North Carolina or Texas decides that convicted felons should never have children, and starts imposing mandatory sterilization as part of criminal sentences. No constitutional challenge, because reproductive rights are no longer nationally protected. Let the states decide. Right?

Once the right to reproductive privacy is taken away by the court, it will be decades before it can be reestablished. Conservatives better start praying, if they get their wish, that during that time they don't become the minority under a legislation that decides to require abortions. Because, once that right to personal choice is lost, the government will always be able to decide whether you can have children or not.

Do people really want to live in a country where state legislatures can decide who can be pregnant, and who cannot, and who must? Do people really have that much trust and faith in government that they think the legislature will always make the right choices? Because we'll be stuck with those decisions.

Why can't people understand that freedom of choice is not a minority value, even if the majority happens to disagree with the minority's choice?

And Clinton didn't try to appoint Justices he thought would uphold Roe vs. Wade?

And if Louisiana wants to pass an anti-abortion law, so what?? It is what the people of the state decided to do.

YOU had better thank your lucky stars that YOUR mother was pro-life or you would have seen the inside of a Hoover ...

EDIT: coragryph - Get a grib and check your facts, will you? Your answer is riddled with inaccuracy after inaccuracy. I'll address just one - actually your VERY FIRST statement. Once you realize it is inaccurate, the rest of your meandering drivel and assumptions and what ifs lose all validity.

Planned Parenthood v. Casey did not overturn Roe v. Wade. It affirmed the Court's decision in Roe v. Wade. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roe_v._Wade#Planned_Parenthood_v._Casey)

Check your facts before you answer your next question with emotion rather than fact ... you'll look like less of a jackass.

EDIT: artman59 - If we were even close to being a police state, there would be someone in a black suit knocking on your door right now to take you away. We have the same freedoms we have always had. You can still spout your mindless parrotted trash and nothing will ever happen to you.

Give me just ONE EXAMPLE of rights that have been taken away from you. Name ONE THING you cannot do now that you have always been able to do. Truth is is that you can't ... because you have the same rights you always have.

With luck Roe vs Wade will be gone by the end of the year. I think the first abortion case comes up in november.

Even if Roe goes away, it just puts it back on the states. Some states like Ny and Ca will still have abortion, though most of the Heartland will outlaw it. Several states are getting ready and passing retroactive anti-abortion laws.

The Justices can have no party affiliation. They can only be aligned to conservative, Liberal or middle of the road.
When the Declaration of Independence spoke of Life It was saying that as Americans, babies should have life too.
The sooner Roe V Wade is overturned the better.

Isn't murder already against the law? Oh....sorry.....that's right, a developing child doesn't count. Hey, but go in your yard and shoot your dog, see how much jail time you get then, just because you didn't want to spend $200.00 for a vet to do it. Oh....and in actuality, they should extend Roe Vs. Wade.....until the age of 17 years 364 days. I should be able to abort my kid outta my life all they way until they're 18,.......then I can just kick them outta the house and on their own at that point.

I think it'll be overturned in the next year or two. I have a BIG problem with that. As soon as it gets overturned, I'm moving to another country.
