Walter Payton was the greatest player of All-Time. The man was fearless as a running back. He helped lead his team to a Super Bowl, but most of all he changed many peoples lives through his love for people. You should read his book, "Never Die Easy". Then you'll know what kind of impact he made on and off the field.

I agree with you from a pure stat view when comparing him overall, but I will also agree with the fans that argue that the style of the game has changed greatly. Johnny U played in a era were the forward pass was still in its infancy and the rules allowed both QB's and WR's to be beat during every Second of the play. Also consider the fact of the none stat factor of Spirit and heart and the ability to win the big game which he did on a regular basis. He does have more championship rings then Marino. Yes even though the stats say he was so-so at best it's like comparing Cy Young and Nolan Ryan both HOF but 2 different era's and different styles of play. By the way how were Unitas stats compared to the other QB's during his era?

Barry Sanders, by far the best back to play the game.
Joe Montana/John Elway tie for me, best QB to have when game is on the line.
Anthony Munoz, best OT ever to set foot on the field
Jerry Rice, def enough said about him
Mike Singletary/Lawrence Taylor, couple of the best LB's in modern era and possibly ever

Most pundits rank Jim Brown as #1 at any position. I don't know if it's fair to rank at multiple positions.

I'd say Otto Graham was better than Johnny U.

The best QB I ever saw play was Steve Young.

Walter Payton ... he was the epitome of being a football player.

I could explain why, but I am not certain I would have enough room to write it all out.

Sweetness was, and will always be, The Best!
