The fact remains that we humans have taken an absolute liking to things that we cannot understand, that in the hope that someone someday might be able to explain the inexplicable truth of the strange happenings around the world....

The main purpose of humans studying the atmosphere, the universe, etc.. in essence, remains the same... We want toexplain and believe that everything happens for a reason, and that the reason follows a logic, and this logic can be explained by something that is easy to understand....

But death is neither explainable nor easy to understand... .Death is.... DEATH...

We dont know what happens to us after we die, and it is this unexplainable logic that scares us, because we dont know what happens to us, whether we continue on a journey to someplace better or worse, or what happens in the future...

And this fear of the unknown, yet the desire to know more about it, is the reason why Death seems so attractive and yet frightening

Benjamin Franklin once said, "In life only two things are inevitable, death and taxes". Now, while I'm sure the quote is directed more towards taxes it works for death. We are so attracted to the thought of death because it is something we all experience eventually. In every country, every race, every culture, everyone eventually dies. We are also obsessed because the very basis of religion (theoretically) is answer the great question, "What comes after?" This also frightens us. Even the most religious Christians fear death. No one is sure what happens to us.

Death is frightening because it's the unknown, and people are afraid of the unknown. Death is also attractive or attracts attention and interest because it's something we can't possinbly comprehend. Nobody can imagine not thinking, because to think about being completly void of thoughts(which death entails) is impossible. Death seems to be attractive for the simple fact that is IS unknown.

I don't think death is attractive, but it's frightening me all the time.

Death is both fascinating and terrifying simply because it stands for an absolute point of no return.

No man has actually "lived to tell" of the experience that is death.

The claims of some people who say they have been dead are may be backed by the similarity in the claims of many others. But the fact remains that all these claims are subjective, with no shred of physical proof to justify them.

Attractive if you believe in heaven, something greater at the end. Also cause it would end the problems of life instantly. Frightening because it would also end the joys...
