There are 1,024 MB in a GB.
MP3 files at good quality are about 1MB per minute of song.
If the average song is 4 minutes, that's 256 songs in a GB.
If the average CD is 50 minutes, that's 20 complete CDs in a GB

1GB=1000MB. The songs that fit in a GB is irrelavant, because you could have a song as long as 1 GB. Of course it would be hours and hours, but the idea of how many songs is that is irrelavant. The stores try to estimate that each song is about 3MB and then 1000MB/3MB= 333.33333... songs. A good way of estimating what kind of ipod/mp3/whatever you want to buy, check all the music that you have in the computer and decided if you want all of that music to listen to it or just some of your favorite.

it steps in 1,024 always. 1,024 kb in a mb, 1024 mb in a gb. A song at 128 kb quality will average about 3 mb, so that's about 330 songs per Gb.

1 gigabyte = 1024 megabytes.
an avarage song is about 4 megabytes.
so in a gb, there are about 250 songs (MP3 format).
