But at 16 you might have a bit of trouble convincing people to let you move in. Make sure you can prove that you can support yourself financially and that you will pull your weight around the house. At your age you need to be in a family environment. You might think you are all grown up, but life is tough when you are supporting yourself. Maybe see if any of your friends parents will allow you to board?

I think the most important factor is to BE CAREFUL!! Don't take such a topic lightly, and don't accept the first offer you find. Do a lot of research and find the best place you can, even if it takes a few weeks (or months). The last thing anyone would want is to hear that you got hurt by whomever you shared a space with.

go to Craig list and also check with the director of housing at the local college, have your parent check out them for your safety.
