Does anyone have any idea how to get Sharpie marker out of wood? IS there any possible way to do it?

Sharpie is soluble in acetone, but that might ruin the finish of the surface you're trying to clean. Consider whether you are willing and able to refinish the wood, then decide whether to try a strong solvent like acetone. You might also try it out on a small area. To do this, you can just try nail polish remover, which has acetone as its primary ingredient.

Best of success.

The thinners they use in the marker works as a good remover. So if the marker didn't penetrate into the wood then take the marker and trace over a small section and rub hard with a slightly damp cloth. Only do an inch or two at a time.

We have used hair spray for removal of magic markers from some items usually not porous. If the wood is porous then it might make it worst because it melts the marker. If the wood is finished then it could damage the finish. Try it in a non conspicuous place. White rain was the best for us. Be sure and wipe it up before it dries again fast.

I did the same thing last night! I got marker on my wood table! UGH! I'm going to 1) try the cheap hairspray trick first and if that doesn't work, then I'm going to 2) try the "magic eraser" product and if that doesn't work, then 3) 409 or **** and Span or some other cleaning product and then 4) the acetone in nail polish remover and then as a last resort I'm going to use it as a "craft" table for kids and sand, paint/resurface/finish the table top. Good luck (to both of us!)
