its simple its a tradition form the 1860's when the rules for soccer were formally made and it became an international sport...they did it back in the day because it was a substitute for war. In general every sport was because nations got to compete without spilling blood now soccer was chosen for this because it was the most popular sport. By bringing the little children it showed the world how we need to stop all wars so that these innocent children can live peaceful lives and that disputes can be setteled on the soccer field with no death rather than through war...

Good publicity is a very small factor, at least less than showing off your children


The truth is, the players are still parents, and whatever be, they cant just leave their children or not bring them anywhere they want to go...

If the children want to accompany their fathers, the fathers cant possibly give reasons saying no!

Get one thing straight: The children you see are NOT the players own children. If your child wants to be involved there is a heavy selection process. I'm not sure how one would go about getting ones son/daughter chosen to participate in this tradition.

the children are young german kids from aneighboring school, they accompany the players as an escort, sort of like a mascot. for variuos reasons like to psyche up the fans. make the kids feel important and make the ooponent seem less aggresive.they've been doing this for a long time...
