I hate to sound like I have been living under a rock, but is North Korea planning to bomb us?

I have heard nothing about this impending missile launching. What is going on with that country? Do they not realize that if they did launch a missile, they would soon be so overwhelmed with US bombers and missiles, that they would have done better to launch it straight up and let it come down on their own heads?

North Korea has stated that they will (may?) test a missile which can reach the West Coast of the Americas. If so this changes the relationship dynamic of the countries which have such missiles and nuclear weapons.

Until this point, countries with such combined capabilities relatively stable and predictable, North Korea is neither. This places all other countries which are within the missile trajectory umbrella in a more risky state. Take a world map and draw a line from Korea to North America and then draw a circle with North Korea at the center and you will see that it includes most of the world. It is these other parts of the world which are under the most danger, such as Japan.

Because of the distance involved, if such a missile were shot at the Americas, the United States would have the time to shoot it down, other countries would have neither the time to do so and most do not have the capabilities to do so. The United States is most involved due to its treaty obligations with other closer and less capable countries. Because North Korea is such an unstable country (such as starving its own people to build weapons) this makes other countries very nervous.

With this possibility the odds of an international incident have greatly increased. This is less a problem of the United States than one of the United Nations..

I'm not a US citizen, and I don't understand this. What makes the US the world police? Why can the US have missile tests and other countries not?

Why would North Korea bomb the US? Do you know how much more military equipment the US has? There is no way North Korea would do that without knowing all of their country would be taken in days after an invasion. Have you seen the size of N.K.?

I hate the fear mongering that happens in the US. It's like the people are taught to fear another country when they are autonomous. The US has more weapons to destroy the world many times over, and no one is concerned? Is this sane when the president invaded another country that doesn't have WMD when they said it did? Why do you put your trust so blindly in people who have not proven themselves with intelligence or creditably? The first missile test has an attempt to put something into orbit and it went over Japan...by accident. Was it a missile? Highly doubtful. Was is a satellite of some sort? Probably. They weren't trying to blow up the Japan/US. Why aren't you concerned when the US launches a missile or has a missile test?

Think more about what you hear and get all of the facts.

It's a missile test, who cares? The US has tested hundreds of intercontinental missiles and dozens of nuclear bombs. And the US is still the only country to ever use a nuclear weapon on people - civilians, no less! North Korea isn't cooperating with US requests to stop weapons research, but to consider that a threat of violence is ridiculously alarmist. Nuclear capability is just a bargaining chip for better trade agreements.

If they ever launched a missile at us, their country would turn into a big mushroom cloud 10 hours later, so it's not gonna happen.

They're basically saber-rattling. They want similar incentives that the world is dangling in front of Iran.
However, we should be more concerned w/ North Korea than Iran. We believe NK already has nuclear weapon's production capability. They just don't have the capability to attach a warhead to a missile yet. Some intelligence estimates that is 5 years away. Whereas, Iran has yet to even come close to nuclear weapons production capability.
Similarly, NK leader is way more insane than that of Iran.
NK is a bigger threat militarily than Iran. They have a larger, better equipped military, and they have effective long-range missile capability.

You have a very unstable leader in North Korea. They are working to develop a nuclear capability and recently they have said that they are developing a missile capable of reaching the United States. They have to realize that if they try anything, they would be wiped off the map. They are a threat - however, the situation in Iran is more dangerous - though there is no threat there to bomb the US - but their development of a nuclear bomb could cause major chaos in the area.

I really don't think they care!! It sounds like there attitude is they know they can't win but want to do as much damage as possible on there way down! Our president is going to get us all killed!
