A few months after our 15 year old daughter's funeral, my hubby and I wanted to watch a meteor shower that was going to take place. Since the cemetary is out in the country, we took a blanket and watched the shooting stars from beside our daughter's grave.....all night long. It was glorious and helped with our grieveing process. It was not scary at all.

Yeah.
When I was a youngster, I took a cross-country bicycle ride. When I found myself in some small community with no campgrounds, parks or hostels, I would camp in the graveyard. They're quiet at night, mostly.
Except this one night, in W. Virginia, the local yabbos raced around the cemetery perimeter road for a couple hours, hooting and honking and pitching beer bottles at the headstones. They didn't know I was there (fortunately), but that was the worst night I spent in a graveyard (so far).

at one point in time being homeless in New Orleans is a scare in and off itsself and finding solice at the big cemetary where Marie Lavoe? is entombed is probably the best rest you could ever get.....at one time, pre-katrina.
Think about it, no one goes into a cemetary late at night, save for other flakes like yourself who is homeless and just looking for a place to get out of the rain. And when you roam through the cemetary middle of the night, no one is gonna' mess with ya', so as ya' keep walking, head towards the center area. There used to be a few crypts that were openable, I doubt they still are now, but...crawl up inside, shut the door and noone is the wiser until you tell the world online....umm...oops.

A friend of mine used to work and live in a funeral home. It was very creepy at first, but we got used to it. Every weekend, we'd party and watch scary movies in the room next to dead bodies. My kids were small at the time. Everytime they came in, they asked if there was anybody in a casket today. Then they'd go play.
It sounds really weird, but when you live there it becomes a part of everyday life. I did tell her I wouldn't like walking downstairs to see a person in casket first thing in the morning everyday. It didn't seem to bother her at all. I personally don't think I could live in a funeral home, but just spending the evenings and a few nights there wasn't bad.

Hah, I've been dared to a few times, but noone would ever come with me to find out if I really did or not.
It's really not a scary idea at all. Dead people can't do anything, it's the live ones that people should worry about. =P

when my grandfather passed away, there were so many of us cramped into my grandmother's house that my parents, siblings and I ended up having to stay at the funeral home in the same room with my deceased grandfather, we didn't mind becuase while all my cousins had to sleep in a very hot and cramped house, we got to stay in a very good air conditioned room with enought room for all 5 of us.

well i used to kind of live in one. We lived in burrilvill in RI and on our farm there were Indian burial mounds everywhere on the property. the House and barn were built back in 1881, but on our property it is very likely there used to be a place where the Indian used to live. granted at night the woods were not a place to be stepped foot in.
