OSAMU TEZUKA

I know he's the Walt Disney of Japan...and the father of anime and manga....

but shouldn't there a father of modern anime???

like Hayao Miyazaki...

or

Masashi Kishimoto (so far he only have two mangas, so I guess he needs to be more of an icon...one who have lots of works which made impact in the anime world)....

come to think of it, anime has gone through a lot of changes since the prime of Tezuka-san...

but with all respect to Mr. Tezuka, he really deserves it...the title--the father of anime and manga.

still the title of father of anime and manga will be in Osamu Tezuka's hand.

instead of father of anime and manga, why not father of genre? spesific genre of course.

the father of 'a-bunch-of-guys-oh-there're-girls-too-n-they-are-so-cool-n-strong-n-they-fight' genre (lol) is......Akira Toriyama!! just look how many mangaka inspired by his Dragonball saga? Masashi Kishimoto(Naruto), Kubo Tite(Bleach), Yoshihiro Togashi(Yuu Yuu Hakusho), just mention. they are too much!!

n don't forget our mother of pretty soldier genre.....Naoko Takeuchi!! the first mangaka who made heroines with skimpy skirts (lol) though the manga is shoujo but seems the inspiration more appealing for shounen mangaka. example: Cutie Honey, Tokyo Mew Mew(but it's shoujo^^; )

There IS one.

His name is Osamu Tezuka. He was penning mangas and creating animes before Miyazaki-sama ever got started. His portfolio spans over 50 years of works.

Where do you put the line between the modern and the old? Manga has not changed much in form, while anime has been integrating 3d somewhere along the line (sometimes its obvious and sometimes its not). Besides almost everyone is at par with each other.

yea, Hayo Miyazaki is pretty cool . It's like he takes all my dreams and fantasies and brings them to life. He has a wonderful mind. And an imagination like i've never seen b4. If their should be a father of anime, he should be king.
