Do not use a douche. Is is true--doctors will tell you not to use them.
I use Massengil Feminine wash for that area (outer area) when I shower and that will make you feel fresh and clean there. I use soap/bath wash on the rest of my body. I love that feminine wash because it will not irritate you and they even have it for sensitive skin. It is so much better than plain soap that could dry you out and not make you feel as fresh. So try it. It is a good product. I have used it since I was 13 or so, because I had sensitive skin.
If you have a discharge in your canal after you period, that is normal. If it lasts for awhile after that or itches, then you should see your doctor. You may have a yeast infection. But be on the safe side and get it checked out to make sure.
I hope you feel better soon.

If you will pardon a man weighing on this issue, I have a few thoughts. I've done a little research on the female anatomy over the last 30+ years and was married to a woman who never douched. It has been my understanding that the vagina is a self-cleansing organ. Other than soap and water, no douches should be necessary. In fact, a douch can make things worse. Women have been brainwashed to think that their genitals are dirty and need special cleaning.

douching is not good, it causes an imbalance in your vagina (not too mention dryness) and you can then be more prone to infections. Your vaginal canal cleans itself out, there is nothing extra you should be doing. You can clean the outer area (like the lips) with regular soap but don't douche. If you have trouble believing it go talk to a gynecologist and he will say everything I just wrote.

Do not douche unless directed by a Dr. It disturbs the natural balance. If you are having a vaginal discharge that is not normal, you should see a dr., as you might have an infection.

first of all, stop douching! douching is terrible for you. it removes the natural flora of your vagina and potentially flushes all the bad stuff back up, which can cause more internal and worse infections. vaginas are pretty amazing, they do a great job at cleaning themselves out. stop douching before you get yourself in trouble.

NEVER douche, you can make things worse. See your doc, maybe you have a yeast infection, or urinary tract infection, Wear Cotton undies that fit, and clothing that is not to snug. Shower daily.

Don't take baths! If your tub is not super clean, you can catch infections. It is more sanitary to shower.

douching is not good... it takes away good bacteria from your vagina.. i suggest layin in a bath for a while.. that is a good way to clean your insides, and it is relaxing
