I was reading in paper that Dakota is striving to make it illiegal to have an abortion even if the woman was raped or the child was conceived in incest.

Forcing a female to carry to term and give birth to a child conceived from a rape is criminal in itself. It legitimizes the crime and makes a father of the rapist.

Horrible.

"abortion needs to be legal until all of the following criteria are met: birth control is 100% effective, all sex is consensual, and human beings stop making mistakes". -paraphrased quote

Forcing a woman to bear a child she is not willing, or ready, to bear is no different than enforcing a form of indentured servitude on her. It is one of the hardest choices a woman ever has to make, it is not made lightly nor for the "heck of it" (did someone actually say that? How ignorant can you be?), and the decision is between the woman , her doctor, and whoever she chooses to share it with. It is private, and, quite frankly, none of anyone else's business.

Has anyone looked at the rape statistics in America? One in four women are raped, by legal definition. THAT is a problem of epidemic proportions. Would anyone on this board really state that it is in a 15 year-old child's best interests to bear an unwanted child from rape or incest? I hope for a world where girls and women can make choices free of persecution, legal or otherwise. We'll stand by and let thousands of children in Africa die of starvation from overpopulation and lack of resources, but will not make birth control and abortion available to women who understand that reproductive freedom and control are the first steps to climbing out of abject poverty. Why are the lives of children in 3rd world countries worth less than the lives of children here? Because that is essentially the root of the message, when we head down the road of restricitng reproductive freedom and choice.

We need to learn to respect life, and understand its complexities, instead of revering it with black and white platitudes that serve the needs of a chosen few. Abortion is not always wrong, nor is it always right, and it does not HAVE to be either! It is, and should remain, a personal choice, under any circumstances.

I do not believe in abortion. The women should give the baby up for adoption. He/She did not ask to be brought in the world and should not have to pay for the sick people that are already here!

On the other hand I have never had to face such a hard decision or known anyone that had to. So No I do not agree yet it all should be based on the woman's beliefs and deep thoughts. It should never be lightly taken.

But to have a law that forbids is wrong. It is a womans choice!

An abortion just for the heck of it? NO way.

In case of rape or incest. Oh, YEAH! How can people be so insensitive an expect women who have been violated to wait 9 months to have a child who is a product of a violent act?

If men could bear children, those stupid laws would not even be considered, let alone passed!

Ohio is trying to do the same thing. Sign up for Planned Parenthood's emails and WRITE or CALL your Representatives. This is wrong. If I'm raped by, oh I don't know, an UNCLE, or my FATHER, you'd bet your **** I'd be getting an abortion. If these laws pass, people will go back to having abortions with coat hangers in back alleys. I hope these lawmakers never have to realize how crazy their laws really are.... I'm sure they don't want to raise a rapist's baby.

I think that if a woman was raped or is a victim of incest, she should have the option to have an abortion or not. It is not up to the government to decide what a woman does to her body.

I agree with these people who have already answered this question: sparkydog_1372,bettywitdabigbooty, Tropical_Woman,

If legislators had to feed/clothe and care for the children of rape and incest THEMSELVES they would probably change their minds! To expect a woman to endure a pregnancy after such a situation is like asking her to relive the rape or incest over and over again and that is downright CRUEL.

Yes of course I think it should be the woman's choice to have an abortion .... especially in those two situations! Hope that law DOES NOT go into effect....cuz that is just pushing back the hands of time on women's rights...

What's the next right to go for us women? Maybe they will take away our right to vote again?!

Absurd...simply absurd!!

Yes she should. That and if birth could kill her are the only times I support abortion. Which Dakota? North or South?
