I suppose it depends what you are looking for and if you are a female student who is of age to join a sorority.

The goal of starting an "ideal sorority by one group included envisioning a family of women, strong independently, but stronger united, who would strive together to attain excellence in every endeavor. Their main focus was on creating a sisterhood firmly rooted in Service, Scholarship and Strength. The motto became "Sisterhood by Friendship," and the colors, letters and by-laws were developed around this credo."*

If this is something that you feel would help you while you are passing through your college years and beyond, then YES, I would encourage you to look into a sorority.

However, if you need to pay attention every minute to your studies and cannot afford to be distracted 3-4 nights per week, or your grades will suffer, then sorority life may not be for you.

The best idea is to go to the sororities on your campus and visit. Talk to the people involved and see if you would fit in, both personality wise and fiscally. Good luck!

It depends on what you want your college experience to be. During rush week it is as much about you interviewing the sororities as it is about them interviewing you. Check out the reputations on campus also.

I learned more from my experience in Greek life than I did in many of my classes. Most employers like to see leadership potential in their employees and Greek life is a great way to help develop that.

I wouldn't trade my experience for the world. I would encourage to you investigate it, with an open mind, and see if it is the right move for you.

Good luck!

they can be very good and or very bad. The good points are that it helps a girl to get involved with others and their community. The bad points are that they can lead to learning many new bad habits (drinking, drugs, bad study habit, etc.) It all depends on the sorority and the girl. I had a great experience in one but I also kept my own identity.

I believe that sororities are not a good idea! why? All I have ever seen was trouble. If your in a christian college maybe thats okay but it's just nothing but trouble. After all when you go to college your there to get a education right? so who needs a sororitie.

The right one can be great for your resume, but the wrong ones could not only get you in a lot of trouble but hurt you during your schooling. Good luck!!

If you feel you need to pay for friends and devote every waking moment to the activities involved in being in one. Plan on your grades going down, and gaining weight from all the booze parties you have to go to.

I would think so just as long as you don't let the sisterhood get in the way of better judgment on important issues.
