Good website with a nice video.

I like ferrets, my first one was a long time ago before they became a popular pet (1972).

In the late 70's when I owned a pet shop, I was one of the guilty ones who promoted them as pets. At the time people were wanting exotic pets, but not capable of taking the long term responsibilities of caring for a wild animal, so the ferret appeared to be the perfect middle ground. They were different, but relatively easy to care for. I did require that any customer that bought one, also buy the book for learning to care for one and gave tech support free of charge.

However, today ferrets have become like many other pets, more animals than good homes for them. Pet shops see them as a profitable item, don't screen owners... and the animal pays the price.

Ferrets are great pets for some people. However like any other animal, they aren't for everyone.

Taking any animal into the family, is just like adding a child.. they will need food, shelter, and loving care. If one isn't ready to commit to this, they don't need a pet.

With age we get wiser, I went from pet shop owner, to rescuer and educator.

If you think ferrets, have it rough, you should see the horrors that some of the other animals get. Cute fuzzy animals like cats, dogs and ferrets at least have quite a few rescue groups to help out. Herps and fish have almost none. The true wild animals may land in one of the few rescue sanctuaries or zoos, but most are put down.

Awww how cute. I love ferrets. Our first ferret was a stray we found in the middle of winter running down a country road. She ran right up to the car when we stopped and hopped right in.

ahhhhhhhhhhhh, that was hard to keep a dry eye. They are so cute. I have always wanted one, but knew they had to be treated very special and the care was a bit more expensive than a cat or dog. So I have never got one. I want to make sure that when I get one that I can take care of it properly. Do you do this kind of work? That is really cool. Keep up the good work if ya do. If not, hats off to those that do!!!

I actually got through it dry-eyed,but maybe it`s because I watched animal cops all the time, and saw thigs much more horrific. Thats not to say I dont want to visit the same punishment on the perpetrators that they did to those defenseless animals. no wonder I like animals more than I like most people. But that video made me want to go right over to an animal recue place and adopt a rescued animal !

I hate ferrets.
Stinky little creatures.
No compassion for other ferrets.

No sympathy for a sad ferret here!
