I wish that I was able to stop worrying about my looks. The truth is that my husband is much more attractive than I am and much younger, he married me for my ability to keep a house and raise children. I have to worry about my appearance in order to keep my husband's attention. I have just had a baby and am larger than usual, so I am trying to lose weight, and I have noticed that when I look my best, he gives me great attention. Right now, because I am fat and unatractive, he does not even wake up to spend time with me.

Guess not. The problem is society and people who only worry about themselves. Society and their "fashion do's and dont's," make people feel inadequate. I've often felt it myself. We need to be able to see past what we look like and learn to love and accept ourselves how we are.
Not saying that one should love being unhealthy. By all means, if you're obese and don't have to be (not due to a genetic illness), exercise! But things one can't easily change such as the nose, shape of eyes, hair, etc. Deal with it!
Accept yourself! Love yourself! Take the positives and the negatives! For example, since I had two kids I was left rather chubby. Do I like it? No. My clothes don't fit like they fit Jen Aniston. Oh well, big deal. I exercise more. But I also know, I'm a great teacher, an awesome mom, great at computers, awesome with my hubby, etc. I'm a great person in general.
So what if my clothes don't fit me like they do Jen's? I'm happy knowing that I'm great at other things, and my weight will change (hopefully) one day, but I don't need it to change today, or tomorrow. I'm a happy person.

Because everyone (almost) has the instinct to preserve their genes. But, and this is the BIG but, people from the opposite sex generally judge you by your appearance long before they even meet you. If you "don't look good" then the chances of having a mini-me drops exponentially with that person. With same sex, it is just a way of keeping tabs on the pecking order of success: looking good usually means you have the money to pay for everything it takes to have perfect ahir, skin, eyes, face, body, etc.

Because we are constantly assaulted in the media by the idea of what is "beautiful." In magazines, on TV, in the movies -- even at the mall. It has become a sport among girls to criticize all other women. And men perpetuate it by stuffing money into the G-strings of strippers. And women perpetuate it by supporting the beauty pageant industry. Even dentists perpetuate it by recommending braces at the slightest sign of a crooked tooth. Sad but true, we are brainwashed.

Because they feel that other people are judging them by the way that they look and they are afraid if they don't look hot that no one will like them.
