me and my wife are trying to figure out a name for our baby before he/she is born. I like the name....
Layden (First name) for a boy. So combine that with one of the other names we like: Joshua, and you get Layden Joshua.....obviously I am not going to post my last name. Any help would be appreciated.

Also I have looked in 3-4 books and the internet and Layden is no where to be found. So hopefully I can get some kudos for that.

Thanks

i like layden and if it is not in the books then no one has that name and it is neat to be the first to have a name. when naming a child it should come from the heart. you are give that child the first gift to them and they will have it forever. make it count. good luck naming that wonderful child. and have fun being new parents. congratulation on the baby!!!!!!!!!!

Just because you haven't seen it on the net or in the books doesn't mean no one else has the name, they could just have a different spelling. I work in a birthing center so I see the worst of the worst names. Layden is not the worst but it would never make my list of good names. When I read it I thought of a ladle, like for soup or something. If anything I would recommend Joshua Layden because I think it flows better.

I love Layden. Come up with your own definition, I would think it would be a derivitive of Lad. Very masculine. Layden... I really like it. Good job on being creative. The only thing I could think of is that kids might tease him and call him Lady. But kids are mean, and thats a great name.

I like Layden Cole...

I like what you have. And I hope you don’t mind a few suggestions of my own…

Joshua Layden
Layden Joel
Layden Jaasau

LAYTON
Gender: Masculine
Usage: English
Pronounced: LAY-tun [key]
From a surname which was originally derived from a place name meaning "leek garden" in Old English.

Be blessed.

I think it's a very cute name. but it sound's to much like a girls name to me and to close to jayden. But it's very cute Joshua, layden or layden,Joshua whatever you like!! I think what matter's the most is what your wife likes she's the one carrying it and having to go through the pain of giving birth. But whatever you decide is great it's a really cute name. Congrats!!! Baby's are a very wonder full gift and I think it's really cool to have a name that nobody else has my best friends name is Dorina and many people dont have that name and believe it or not she's naming her daughter blondie..So don't feel weir about naming your baby that it's very cute go for it...!

When I was pregnant for my daughter, my husband and I had a terrible time trying to find just the right name. We would get close to settling on one, and then someone would turn up on television or we'd encounter someone with the name who had characteristics we wouldn't want in a child. We had the field narrowed to two or three when she was born. When I looked at her, and held her for the first time, I knew her name right away. I told my husband and that was it.

My opinion on Layden...doesn't matter. It's your child, your choice, and ultimately your responsibility. The only advice I'd give you is not to commit to it 100% (like having it embroidered on his things) until you get the chance to meet him and see how HE feels about it.

Good luck!

It is a really nice, unique name. It is not offensive at all and seems like a strong name. I only hope that his nickname won't be "Lay" because then when he gets older the other kids could have a field day with that. "Lay Josh _______ for free!" Kids are cruel and if he gives them one reason to pick on him they will go looking for things like that. How does Lay sound with your last name? Say it out loud, try saying it quickly, try saying it last name first. You might want to think of spelling it Leighden or Leyden. My sister's name is Kelly so I'm sensitive to what kids will do with a name and when she picked her children's names she went with names you couldn't rhyme or shorten to anything. It was bad for her at times and obviously stuck with her. She is a really nice person, was quite popular too and very pretty and still the kids had a field day with her name when they wanted to.
