Some of it is okay, there really hasn't been a band to define this decade yet, though.

I'm an "older" person and I love todays rock.
I listen to the new stuff more than I do the bands that were around when I was (cough) younger.
There are some really great bands out there. I agree that Fall out Boy is a bit...shall we say...trendy but I still think they're cute. (well, not THEM but the songs. They're fun to sing in the car and that's got it's place in the world.
Most others that I have heard have real talent and a show of intelligent life.

Kudos to your generation!

If I hear "Dance, Dance" one more time I'll scream. A lot of bands like Simple Plan ( MMVA Fav. Canadian band for 4 years!??????? I don't get it.) they are so whiny and sound like a hundred other bands. Every generation has diverse tastes in music. There is always a lot of crap to sift through, but those few great groups that stand the test of time are worth waiting for. My generation produced The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Smiths, etc. I love listening to them as much today as I did as a teen, maybe even more. But I also love some of today's groups. Some of my personal favs are My Chemical Romance, Metric, Pilate, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Linkin Park, and I think Dallas Green of Alexis On Fire is doing some pretty amazing things.

I'm with u on fall out sux but CKY is the only great rock band that isn't getting credit.
Too many people are falling for the high pitched fall out geeks today.
most of the bands of today are music industry garbage.

If u want rock listen to classic rock like Ted Nugent or AC/DC it's better to listen to the classic that will be around forever than the crap that last a week.

The only reason bands are "Big" today is cause ur best friend buys them!! LOL

MUSIC HAS LOST IT'S SOUL.MOST OF TODAY'S GROUPS OR BANDS SOUND JUST ALIKE.THE KIDS WHO GREW UP IN THE 90'S ALL HATE THE 80'S, BUT YET THE BANDS FROM THE 80'S STILL HAVE SELL OUT CROWDS.MOST OF THE BANDS FROM THE 90'S ARE ALREADY GONE AND FORGOTTEN.SAME WAY WITH MOST OF THE BANDS FROM 2000 TO 2005 ALREADY.THEY JUST DON'T STICK AROUND LONG ANYMORE.HECK, THE ROLLING STONES ARE STILL AROUND, AND THEY STARTED IN THE LATE 50'S OR EARLY 60'S.HEAVY METAL WAS THOUGHT TO BE DEAD, BUT ALOT OF METAL BANDS ARE SELLING OUT TO LARGER CROWDS THAN BEFORE.WHERE DID THE EXTRA FANS COME FROM?MOST OF TODAYS MUSIC SEEMS TO BE ABOUT WHO CAN SCREAM THE LOUDEST, NOT WHO CAN SING THE BEST SONGS.ROB ZOMBIE, AND RAMMSTIEN SEEM TO BE AMONG THE BEST OF THE ROCK BANDS OF THE NEW CENTURY.OZZY SAID YOU CAN'T KILL ROCK N ROLL, BUT IT ISN'T IN VERY GOOD HEALTH NOW.HEAVY METAL (MUSIC IN GENERAL, REALLY) NEEDS TO BE RESSURECTED.TODAYS STUFF JUST ISN'T CUTTING IT.

its ghastly for the most part, with the odd exception.
it amuses me when people think bands like greenday are "new" music, when they've been around almost 20 years, and the sound hasn't changed much at all.
it also amuses me when a "new" band covers an old rock bands song and kids think its the "new" bands song. HIM, manson or nirvana anyone?
emo is nothing but modern day country music with less twangy guitar

Rock is not bad. You just are not looking in the right places. Turn off the radio and put down that Alternative Press magazine.
