Every 64 million years or so, the earth is hit by gigantic comet and the impact is so tremendous that vast amounts of dust and debris is sent into the atmosphere, blocking out the sun. This causes massive drops in temperature sending the earth into an ice age, wiping out all life on earth. This very same catastrophe wiped out the lifeforms on the planet before the dinosaurs existed, and the lifeforms before those, since this planet has not been hit once, but many times, making this an incredibly ancient planet. Don't know if 64 million years will have passed since the last ice age by 2026 though.

The earth is going to be purged with fire but that is only after the tribulation period. After God calls his saints home with Him, ( the rapture), the world will go through a 7 year tribulation period. After this, Jesus and his saints are coming back to earth on white horses, as said in the Book of Revelation, to have victory over the devil. The earth will be purged with fire, but I am not exactly sure what other events will take place before this, I guess I have to do more studying! :0) Not even Jesus knows when He is coming back to gather up the saints, so if He doesn't know, God is not going to reveal it to anyone else!

I can't right now remember its title, but I have a
book that has an amusing appendix. It contains a
large number of end of the world predictions (I
think 49), starting with the bible. All of them have
failed with the possible exception of one or two
which are still in the future.
