Are prices too good to be true, or will I have to be ready for a bad surprise when I get there? Maybe pay more, again, etc?

Honestly, I would just book with the hotels directly. Most often, you will find lower rates that way anyhow. Or, I suggest using a travel agent, you will be much safer this way. I definitely recommend staying away from packages booked online with sites like Yahoo! Travel.

I have just heard so many stories of people arriving and not getting what they booked, not having rooms, wrong dates, etc. I just think it is too risky. If you book on your own, and especially with a travel agent, you are much less likely to run into problems later down the road. Not to mention, most of these sites have tons of fine print which may come as a surprise to you later.
