My brakes squeak while im driving even though i dont have my foot on the brake. When i do step on the brakes the squeaking stops. Other machanics tell me that this is normal but i cant believe that for an 02' GMC YUKON. And the squeak is just getting worse. also ever time i have to stop hard theres a vibration in the brake, I know this has to do with ABS but sometimes im not even stopping that hard when it does this. One more thing,, im going through two tanks of gas a week, I only drive about 45 miles a day. ive tripped it and im only getting about 250 miles per tank. ive been told my manifold?needs adjusting, is this what i need and how much would all this stuff cost? Im in Kennesaw, Ga. anyone know of a machanic i can trust. Please help me out im kinda strapped for cash but i know i need this done. thanks for your time and effort that you put into answering this for me.

The squeaking noise you hear is from a thing on your front brake pads called wear indicators,, they are telling you that you brake pads are almost worn out , they do that to keep you from damaging your front rotors,, it is cheap now but you let it go on and it will get expensive, the vibration means the rotors need to be trued up !!!

You really don't have any extreemly serious issues with your buggy. The brake noise is due to the surface condition of the rotors, and probably "cheap" brake pads.

On the better brake pads, there are shims on the backside (sometimes 2) of the pads. These are there to help reduce vibration induced squeals. The cheaper lines of pads don't always have those. It is not a safety issue, just an annoyance. The vibration is due to rotors with excessive face runout, which could be more serious, but I doubt it is. If you feel most of the vibration in your foot and only a little in the steering wheel, you can live with it. To totally correct your trouble you would probably need new rotors and good quality brake pads installed. You have no problem with the ABS.

250 miles per tank doesn't really tell you a lot, you gotta get a mileage figure. To do that fill your tank and zero your trip indicator. Drive til you need more gas, fill up and see how many gallons of gas you used, and how many miles you drove. Divde miles by gallons and see what you get. Do this several times, and average the results. Its a good idea to always do that, you can see when mileage falls off within a fill up or two.

Gas mileage will vary depending on how and where you drive, but I would guess that vehicle would be doing good to get above 15 mpg. There is no adjusting manifolds, or anything else for that matter, its mostly all pre-set at the factory, and if out of range parts will have to be replaced.

I am 1 1/2 hr south of KSU, but I don't know of anyone up there who can service your vehicle. I would be glad to if you want to make the trip, but your best bet is to ask friends, co-workers etc who they use. Good Luck

I totally agree with br549 your brake squeeks are most likely coming from missing shims on the back of the pads, but you can also put anti-seize on the back of them to help stop the noise. I also agree with what he said about the fuel mileage. And as for the vibration you should have your brake rotors "turned" which is what everyone calls it, but that just means that they just need to be taken off and put on a brake lathe and trued up.

the squeaking is from the brake pads wearing thin, the vibration might be the brake rotors being warped. as for the gas mileage, that can vary by how you drive, city or highway. when is the last time you had a tune up? spark plugs, wires,PCV,air filter, fuel filter, etc.

The squeeks and vibration are from worn out brakes. The is no adjustment for your manifold. To improve your mileage you may need to tighten your muffler belt and put summer air in your tires.

are you sure the sweaks is coming from the breaks? have to know where exactly the noise coming from, maybe the break pads might not be installed properly. the break pads might not be worn out evenly so vibration could come from there, over usage the break pads fades and often they do not fade evely so you have to re-surface the pads (smooth it out evenly)
for the high gas consumption, check your idling level, maybe its way too high (normal would be 800rpm, with 0r without aircon on) if not could be the injectors, they might not be working properly maube shooting too mucbh gas than normal
but yukno is a gas guzller though it a big car so i assume they eat lot of gas about maybe about 5 miles to a gallon

You have major problems with your vehicle. I would think that your computer is having serious issues. They had some recalls with the Denali for ABS. Wiring harness or something. I'd buy a nice economical escort or geo metro or something. Sorry for your troubles.
