I live in a small town b/t Louisville and Lexington. I've also lived in Louisville, Highland Heights (Northern Kentucky), and Webster County in the west. My favorite place was Highland Heights. My least favorite place was Louisville b/c of the absoultely rude, snobby people. Lawrenceburg is just slightly above Louisville on my list, and that's because it's my hometown; otherwise, people there aren't any nicer than they are in Louisville, just more redneck. Webster Co. is very scenic and rural, but out in the middle of freakin' nowhere; I'm not sure I'd live there again.
There are good and points about Kentucky, like everywhere else. I like Murray, Cadiz, Mayfield, and Eddyville--the far western part of the state. The mountains--mostly east of I-75--are beautiful, but it's a very poor area with no jobs, I wouldn't live there. Then, there are other towns that suck--Winchester, Paris, Corbin, and Shepherdsville, especially. Kentucky is pretty, but overall it's not that great.

I love the deep South! But most of all, I love Texas! I'd love to move there. I'd miss the natural beauty of Kentucky, though, b/c it's what I've been used to.

No offense to any Kentuckians, but the state just isn't as friendly as it cracks itself up to be. Maybe it's because I've spent SO MUCH time in the deep South and have gained a different perspective, I'm impartial to Southern hospitality. Don't get me wrong, my best friends and most of my family are still in KY.

I have lived in London Kentucky my whole 25 years of life. Growing up around here I agree there is not much to do, but I can say that the town in which I live is a very caring community. Laurel County is a great place to raise a family. There are a couple of good places to work at here in the county and more jobs are expected to come. The Daniel Boone national Forest is beautiful here. The Mountains of Southeastern Kentucky has much to offer besides its beauty.
Truthfully I would not see myself living anywhere else........Theres no place like home.

I grew up in Paducah Kentucky and couldn"t wait to leave. Then I lived in a town outside of Chicago and now 18 years later I'am still here near Chicago and it sucks compared to many parts of KY. It didn't take me long to discover sometimes the grass is not always greener or blue HA ! HA ! If you don't get that Kentucky is the bluegrass state. Anyway my Mom still lives there and if I didn't have a family of my own I would too. By the way your right Cadiz and everywhere around the lake you can find lots of friendly people. Everyone who has ever gone home with me to Ky. wishes they could move there, The only thing stopping most is finding a job that pays anywhere near what they make here.

Your right about Louisville, but not all of them are rude. At least those that I met. I know a few people from Henderson, only because they work here in Indiana. I have distant relatives that live in Pleasureville. My grandmother came from Glasgow. Been to Hopkinsville, Morganfield, places I forgot, anyway, Kentucky has the most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. Yea, there are some hick towns out in the middle of nowhere, but those people are the most kindest people you will ever meet. Only because they don't see people too often. I love Ellis Park, it maybe on this side of the bridge, but it is Kentucky land.
I rambled enough, and I have only visited there.
Take care,
Dottie

Been to Kentucky as a vistor many times. As a traveller, it is my opinion that the rudest people I met were in Kentucky - now, don't get me wrong - I'm not saying everyone in Kentucky is rude since I only had a small sampling. I am from the north and one guy in a restaurant said to me, without any conversation prior (after seeing my northern USA license plates on my vehicle), "y'all know, you could disappear in these here hills and nobody would know, you Yankee". He was still fighting the Civil War. Wouldn't live there, and won't visit again. That being said, I'm sure there are nice people there too.

I love Kentucky especially Hazard, Ky. It's where my ancestors worked, lived, loved, farmed and made a life. I'd love to live in Kentucky. Those who live there are lucky!

My husband and I visited some relatives of his in Maysville back in the sixties. I remember tick infested fields and I got chiggers from sitting in the grass. The lady with whom we visited was still using a wringer washer. It wasn't bluegrass country for sure.

I've only lived in California. I've visited IL, NV, IA, and a couple of other states. If I had to live any where else it would be Chicago (close to the family).
