Let's face reality, the world is kinder to those who are pretty/handsome. How many beautiful people do you know that are poor (not by choice)? Unrewarded genius is one of the most common things in this world. Equal opportunity employers are rare but they are out there.

It all depends on who is interviewing. At my last job, the last 4 or 5 people they hired were really strange-looking. Most of them were really good at their jobs but there was this one guy, I'm still trying to figure out why they hired him. He was just an odd-looking fellow and really did not know his stuff very well (it was a Helpdesk job so you can't be dumb!). Plus he only had ONE suit and he wore it every single day, just changed the shirt and tie. And it was this weird mustard-brown color... now, I could see wearing the same suit every day if it was grey or black, because maybe some people would think you had a closet full of black suits, but mustard brown???

Sad to say,But yes. Many studies have been done on this and just last week On my local news(chicago)-and the other week on doctor phil someone put on a fat suit and made their face different. These people had the same qualifications,But the "less attractive" version of the person sometimes did not even get an application,Or they were told that the position was filled. It's so sad but in most cases that seems to be true..In my opinion I would not want to work for such shallow people anyways...They also pre-judge you by your name. Most "ethnic" names are sometimes passed by.I work in HR..sad but true.I have seen co-workers practice this nonsense.

Sorry to say, but the answer is No. My office is filled with ugly people, both men and women. As Management we have figured out that they are the ones (the uglies) that work harder and stay with the company longer. But this is dependent on the type of business...Real estate,Sales and Marketing etc...there is were all the good looking people work...

Yes, would you rather a man in a tux serve your food or a fat, balding, smelly, stained up wife-beater wearing, toothless, hairy armed, dirty mouthed man serve it? Same restaurant, same food.
