why did jean(phoenix) kill cyclops? was it by accident or was it intentional? explain.

ok, when jean first returns, she's in control, not her alter ego, the phoenix. then she control's scott's optic blasts and kisses him. i think that the love jean feels for scott is something alien to the phoenix part of her mind, which is all rage and joy. she doesnt realise how powerful she is and she cant control her powers. she also cant control her emotions, and the two are linked. when phoenix experiences the love jean feels for scott, she intensifies it so much that she cant control the emotions or her powers, and scott ends up getting obliterated, and jean must pass out or something, that's not quite clear.
jean realises what she's done, but she doesnt want to believe it, and the phoenix part of her doesn't care. so in final answer to your question, jean and phoenix killed scott by accident, but whereas jean is devastated by what she's done, phoenix couldn't care a less

Her alter ego (The Phoenix) didn't kill her, neither did Jean. She lost control of her power for a second and knocked herself unconcious and apparantly vaporized cyclops.

phoenix is the one who killed him. It was intentional for the Phoenix, but not Jean. It was accidental for her as she did not know she did it.

It was almost like her alter ego was sucking his power out or something. Jane broke down at the end when wolverine confronted her about it so I do not think it was intentional.

She did kill him and it was accident cause the the phoenix killed not her mate.

It was left open intentionally. I thought that it was an accident, she couldn't control her power or anger or whatever and killed him.

I think it was kind of like a schizophrenic type of thing. There were 2 sides to her, and I think the evil side done him in.
