Two, 2 inch oscars is almost overstocked now, in 3 monthes or so you will need a new tank. Then in the 55, a few monthes down the road, you'll need another tank, around 90 gallons, this will be ok for a permanent solution. However, I would suggest buying now, or selling. Even when moved to the 55, there is a good chance the oscars may be stunted. Plus, you'll save money by buying the 90 and not the fifty. Also, unfortunately, two oscars in a ninety will need a huge amount of filtration, try looking into DIY sumps.
Not to worry you, but three monthes is really hopefull, and is based on the assumption that u can somehow get a 55 set up in a day, because by then you're ten will be overwhelmed. Oscars are fast growers and can easily reach their full 14 in size in a year

Depending on how much you are feeding them and they are growing you will need a new tank soon... within a month... you can find 55 gal on ebay for really cheap just make sure they aren't a "leaker" and if you can't aford a stand and the tank isnt in a nice room you can set it up on cynder blocks ( have a fish room with a 55 on blocks) it works well and is supportive i use about 9: 3 on each end and 3 in the middle depending on how high or low you want the tank... but to keep the little guys happy and healthy i would suggest getting a bigger tank asap.

You should take them back to the petstore until you can get a tank big enough for them. If they say they wont then start complaining that they sold you fish for a 10 gallon when they need a much bigger tank. I don't have oscars but I heard they grow fast and you don't want them to get stunted or even sick and die because they are in a tank too small. They are also very territorial and one may kill the other in that small of a tank.

Ask to exchange the oscars for something better for your tank size. If the sales guy doesn't let you. Speak to the manager. Fish stores make their money on repeat business so you have a lot of power. Any fish store that won't attempt to make this right should be avoided like the plague. (Actually lord knows what sort of diseased fish they may try to sell you.) Personally I'd bet the manager will be rather upset with his staff. I'll bet you got a clueless newbie sales person.
At the petsmart I visit regularly they are very good about this sort of thing. (For a pet store.) The fish are clearly labeled as to their maximum size, temperament, minimum tank size, and even the recommend minimum number for schooling fish. I've heard them counseling people against similar. Just be aware that the chain stores vary a lot depending on management.

You need a new tank right now my friend, oscars need lots of water - they should totally outgrow that tank within 2 months or less (depending on how much you need them).
You need at least a 3 foot tank for oscars.
Either get a bigger tank, or get smaller fish that will live comfortably in your tank.
The LFS guy ripped you off, he sold you something you cannot keep in your current situation - he may or may not have known he was doing wrong. Some of these people know less about fish than people who started fishkeeping yesterday.

first of all the pet store should never have sold you two oscars without telling you how fast they grow--they were out fot the money-I always warned my customers. I would put them on pellet food and they wont grow as quickly as on feeder fish. Eating feeders wont take long at all before they outgrow the tank . I f you reall wanted oscars, yous should have only gotten one. When they DO get bigger-most pet stores will buy them back because the larger they are, the more money-makers they become

Talk to your local pet store, but typically they will grow to fit the space. A bigger tank would suit them well though, since they are an aggressive breed.
