You should check the processor temperature. BIOS in modern computers has a setting that shutdown the system when the processor temperature reaches 70 degrees celcius. Think of a better way of cooling your system.

Is that computer game of yours original? Try uninstalling the game and install it again. If it continues to shut off, read the system requirements at the back label of your game cd. Most new games now need a better graphics card.

Your computer is not fully capable for games. Change your RAM capacity to higher and if there is video card, upgrade it. Also install A newer version of DirectX.

turning off? as in completely shutting down? if so the culprits might be:

a) bad power supply can't handle gaming loads; solution, replace w/ new quality power supply.

b) cpu and/or video card overheating; solution, dust out your computer and/or get more fans for your case. or you can buy an aftermarket cooler for your cpu and/or video card.

is it only one game or all of them? if it happens anytime you play any game, update your video drivers or your power supply may not have enought power to support the load that video card and cpu put on it. if it is only one game in particular it could still be a driver issue. or in rare cases the cpu or video card could be over heating make sure you've blown all the dust out of your machine and if you know how be sure your thermal grease is properly applied.

I would imagine it is one of two problems: Over-heating due to a dying/dead fan or a bad Power supply. If you recently upgraded your video card, you might need a new power supply. If you haven't changed anything, it might be a fan.
