So they can have their cake and eat it too. Because people think they can get away with it. They have settled for the person that they are with and think that this is a back up plan.

I think some people may do this with out care. They don't really think before they actually decide that they love their partner. But some people do learn when they have done it and will swear to never do it again and stick to that swear.
But then there are other people who are just afraid to let go of their partner even if the person who cheated on them hurt them badly because they are actually in love with them or they feel that they won't find anyone else like the one the had right now.
But sometimes the person who has cheated on their partner might not have a care in the world and would just be happy to say that they have a "boyfriend/girlfriend."

in my opinion ,
1.such cheaters are a minority ie very few percent.
2.they succumb to temptation and cannot reveal not because they are ashamed no because they fear losing the partner if they say
3.they try to hide but temptation comes with a committment so they have continue it.
4.every human does mistakes and the truth will be revealed to partner at the wrong time( there is no right time i such issues).
5.they have no feeling to cheat and think they are guided by fate etc but in reality they keep up the temptation cos they like it(not knowingly sometimes) and dont want to miss.
6.they dont want to lose u either cos with u is the family.
7.thats why they cheat.
8.there is another type who are perverts & dont even care ....and lord save such people!

They have an insecurity complex. Want to have their cake and Edith too. There's a lot of people in the world. One cheats on you, drop them and look for someone else.

Sometimes out of fear. All kinds of fear. Lawyers are one of the biggest boogymen when it comes to putting the fear of God into any philanderer. Countless other terrors await when you admit to having an affair... usually means you get to lose all your stuff (depending on which state you live in, some states let you keep half of your stuff).
So if your gonna cheat and even if you get caught.... deny,deny,deny.

They are only with their spouse for security reasons. I hate cheaters.....my ex was one. But I didn't stay for the "worse" part of the vows.
