I'm guessing you want to know about how koi mate since not all fish mate the same. Mating season can really be anytime but its usually when the seasons change and the weather changes. So its most likely gonna happen the beginning of spring and the beginning of fall. Thunderstorms also can trigger breeding, it has to do with the drop in air pressure. The male will chase the female and she will release her eggs, they don't all come out at the same time and it can take hours until shes done. But as she releases them the male will release his milt into the water to fertilize the eggs. Depending on the temp of the water the eggs can hatch in a couple days to a week. The fry will be very tiny but in a pond they should be able to hid in the roots of plants and such and feed on the bugs and any algae that live in there. If the parents see them though they will be goners so if you want to save them I suggest taking them out. But unless your pond is huge you shouldn't save them all since koi need 250 gallons each.

The female lays the eggs, then the male swims by and fertilizes them after they are out of the female's body.
