A woman named Marie Tucek patented the first brassiere in 1893. This "breast supporter", as she called it, looked very similar to the modern brassiere. The device included separate pockets for the breasts, straps that went over the shoulder which were fastened by hook-and-eye closures.
In 2500 B.C., Minoan women that lived on the Greek isle of Crete actually wore a bra-like garment that actually lifted their bare breasts out of their clothes.
Years later, ancient Roman and Greek women took the opposite approach. They actually strapped on a breast band to reduce their bust size.

They were invented around 1400 BC by the Minoans, an early Mediterranean civilization. Later on around the 15th Century AD the Han Chinese used them during the Ming Dynasty.

i dont know....but i love the person who did some days like when i'm working out...but hate it when i cant find the perfect fit or shape or style...good and bad invention...and before that??? you ever wonder if a coconut bra was really used; or just leaves like the image of Eve in the Garden? good luck working out with those bras!!!

Mary Phelps Jacob! Story goes she was at a party, and was tired of wearing constrictive corsets (that's what they used before it was invented!), so she made a bra to support her breasts out of two handkercheifs.
