I am also experiencing pain in my throat when I swallow, but only on the left side. My PCP could not feel or see anything, so I am seeing a specialist next week. But if anyone has any thoughts, that would be great.

TMJ. I have it too, it is greatly effected by stress. If it tends to be worse in the morning, you may be ginding your teeth at night. You can purchase a moldable mouth guard to sleep with so that you don't clench your jaw as much as you sleep. Mine comes and goes for months at a time, so maybe a mouth guard and some painkillers would help before you spend all that money on a specialist.

While you see your Medical Doctor or Medical adviser , it would not hurt if you take anti- biotics such as ammoxicillin or penicillin, even erythromiacin- ( check spelling ), because it is prob' starting with an infection you could have. Make sure that you are not allergic to any of these and only take one kind of anti- biotic while you see your Doc. Some anti- biotics though take from 3 to 5 days to work, so meanwhile you can can gargle warm salted water for the pain and Tylenol extra strengh or Ibuprofen , no more then 500 mg every 4 to 6 hours. Good Luck, bite carefully and drink plenty of juices like apple juice and soft foods like fruits. Take Care. Daniel- San Diego Ca.

Appears that you may have TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint Syndrome). This may be brought about by
1 - Trauma - from injury
2 - Grinding the teeth

I would get a dentist to look at it right away, because the damage can not be reversed, if I remember correctly.

Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ) It's more common than people think.

Talk to your dentist of family physician about it.

My doctor gave me jaw exercises to do. She had me put the heal of my hand on one side of my lower jaw and push my lower against my hand. Do that a couple times and then do the other side. I did this for years and I hardly have any problems now.

TMJ. See a dentist to check your bite alignment. Mine is stressed induced, when I am really stressed I tightened it up causing muscle strain and pain.

Temporal Mandible Joint disorder. You'll have to speak to your dentist about it, and hopefully she'll be able to refer you to a specialist to help resolve the problem. Good Luck!!!

Yeah, TMJ would be my main guess--I have it--but the throat thing sounds like maybe strep?
