hi, im fourteen, and me dad is building me a custom made VW slugbug from the 60's. with pretty much everything new. we are starting from the very beginning with this, all we pretty much have is the actual shel of the car. any help or tips on the rest would be SO greatly appreciated. also any color suggestions. i would really like a nice classic, but pretty color for it.

Don't put the original heater set up in. Get an aftermarket. The old heaters would rot out and blow raw exhaust into the car. NOT GOOD. Go with a crate engine. After 5000 miles, check the valve clearance. Re-adjust if needed. Couldn't tell you how many I got cheap because they just needed adjustment and the owners came to hate them because they couldn't figure it out. You may find an intake for a Weber. It would REALLY make the car run. Just get a holley off of an old pinto and it's nearly the same as a weber. Same bolt pattern so it will fit on a weber intake setup.

Volkswagen is a very easy car to rebuild. Most parts are available through VWOA, but may take some time to be shipped. Take your time, check junkyards and auto trader also.

The color has to black with either white stripes or flames.
