Polarisation of light is depending upon the wave theory of light. The sun's ray may have lights of different planes of vibrations. If your eyes are exposed to the direct sun light or reflected sun light, they got irritaged. If you wear polaroids, this will filter the sun lights with different planes of vibration. It will allow the sun lights of same vibration plane. Thus, your eyes will not get irritated by wearing such type of polaroids.

I think that you mean polarized sun glasses. Polarized sunglasses will reduce sun glare, but they will not protect you very much from UV rays. FYI, polaroid refers to a type of film that develops by itself.
